evan.zuri (real name: Evan Zurilgen) grew up playing music before he knew what to call it. By the time he turned 21, he had released three albums, gone on tour multiple times, opened for bands such as Built to Spill, Fleshwater, and AJJ, and developed a growing conviction that the most interesting stories were the ones nobody was telling yet.

He has spent five years teaching music in the greater Boise, Idaho area — an experience that has shaped both his writing and his understanding of what music actually does to people. His journalism draws on that time in the classroom: a belief that culture is not decoration but infrastructure, and that the people who make and teach it deserve serious attention. He is also currently studying at the College of Western Idaho, getting his Bachelor's degree in History.

His writing has appeared in ANTICS Magazine. He has covered music festivals such as Treefort Music Fest and Kilby Block Party, interviewing bands including Modest Mouse, Beach Bunny, Dry Cleaning, Folk Bitch Trio, Anamanaguchi, Gelli Haha, and more. His music — released under his own name — draws from the best of indie rock, shoegaze, post-punk, folk, and alt-country, blending them into a musical goulash ripe with emotion and honesty.
